About us

After the historical location on Via del Corso, and the ones in Via Condotti and Piazza di Spagna, in 2012 Serra opened the suggestive store in Via Margutta 71, the “Serra Palace”.

The store was started by Mario Serra, who was asked by Mappin & Webb (the most prestigious English name in luxury stores), to open a subsidiary in Roma. In 1924 he decided to go alone. Being an experienced traveler, and an acute observer of the society of his days, he began to purchase plenty of innovative or interesting items for his store. Serra then became a point of reference for Roma's high-society, and the supplier for the Royal House.

We have always counted in our clientele generations of nobles and non-aristocrats, important families or just young couples. They all come to Serra also because we have been the first store to introduce, during the '50s, the "Bridal Registry", made up with Baccarat crystals, Meissen chinaware, table silverware, Sheffield and antique items.

After Founder Mario Serra, the managing of the company went first to his son Marcello, and then to Marcello's son Alessandro, sided by his wife Ornella. Alessandro creates new collections based on ancient Greek and Roman coins; Also, going back to the tradition of the luxury "Souvenirs" from the 1800s, he designs a unique series of Roman Fountains in silver. Ornella creates custom tabletops in marble mosaics, unique pieces designed together with the customers.

In the new and large location in Via Margutta 71 we offer you a matchless assortment of chinaware, crystals and silver from the most prestigious makers, therefore enabling you to obtain the best balance between the elegance of classic choices and the colorful and fun style of more contemporary collections. Also, we offer you a selection of furnishing items, i.e. sofas, couches, tables, carts, bookshelves, from the most important design brands of our times.

We will be happy to support you by giving you our best advices, and by putting our centennial experience at your service.
